The staff of Edmund Campion College are featured this month in our school teachers' photo series and they are, in front, Mrs G. Metsers (standard 3), Rev. Father N. Berridge (chaplain), Rev. Brother Marius (principal), Rev. Brother David (headmaster primary), Mrs McCallion (standard 4), and, at back, Brother Roland (H.O.D. commerce), Brother Francis (Form 1), Mrs Teutenberg (reading specialist), Brother Ralph (H.O.D. English and Geography), and Brother Clarent (H.O.D. maths and science).

Recent arrivals in Gisborne are Jim and Ann Megenis from Bristol where Jim was a guided weapons division project engineer. He has taken the position of physics master at Lytton High School.

For the second year in succession Trevor Gardiner of 14 Wellington Street has won a steeplechase at the Intermediate School.
Last year he won the junior 'chase and this year the senior, with which goes the magnificent L.A. Beattie trophy.

Winners and placegetters in the Lytton High junior and intermediate speech contest were Maurice Smith, Sandra Erickson and Sheryl Powell (first) in the third form section; and Gary Monk (first) and Helen Maxwell and Gloria Houlahan in the fourth form section.

Mr J. B. Chrisp, present chairman of the Wainui school committee, presents Messrs W. B. Cooper and D. A. Wells each with a Hawkes Bay Education Board Six Year Service Certificate. Both men have served on the school committee, Mr Cooper as treasurer and Mr Wells as chairman.

Pupils of the Ormond School took a trip south recently to explore the avenues of travel. They went to Christchurch by railcar and ferry and returned the same way. This mode of travel was the first taste of both types for many of the pupils who are shown on their arrival back at the station.
