Retiring from the hospital staff after a total of 32 years service is Miss Flo Maidens. At an afternoon function Hospital Board secretary Mr P. J. Betteridge made the presentation to Miss Maidens and they are pictured with fellow staff member Mrs Anne Blackwell.

Gaining the Best Puppy in Show award at the recent A & P Show was Mrs S. Carter's Pomeranian "Astra Timpani". Eleven months old, he is known at home as Timmy.

Another dog which also did well at the Show was Mrs M. Johansen's "Mywyre Epsilon". Born and bred in Gisborne and the best wire haired terrier in Australasia, this dog was awarded Reserve Best Dog and Best Terrier.

The first public demonstration of this recently imported Massey-Ferguson tractor took place on David Ferkins' property on the Willows Road. The 105 engine horsepower vehicle is the second biggest in the firm's range and the first to be demonstrated in the North Island. On the tractor during the demonstration are David Ferkins, Gordon Bain (C.B. Norwood's representative), and Dick Blackburne (manager Machinery and Tractor).
