Maritime Meanderings

×

Wish we were meandering actually. Would it not be luverly taking a cruise through Fiji, Rarotonga, Tahiti (especially), Panama, Miami and Bermuda then finally landing at Southampton. For that is the course the one class tourist passenger liner "Southern Cross" is taking. Shaw Saville's 604 ft, 20,204 ton, 1,164 passenger carrying ship swept in off Wainui during the course of its passage and we got this shot from the Aero Club's Cessna.

The beacon in Awapuni Road, the light of which was removed recently, was brought to the ground and demolished the other day. A truck-mounted winch pulled the tower over after it had been sawn through at ground level.
