Booth Shield Golf

Sixty - nine entrants making up teams from various North Island centres competed in the Labour Weekend tournament for the Booth Shield, The Taranaki team on 1812 won the event, while Murray Falloon, a Wairarapa player, came in with a new course record of 69.

With tournament secretary Marshall Butler, the Gisborne team is Wayne Callaghan, Billy Hill, Allan Webb, Anthony Burns, John Perry; Heather Booth, Wynne Collier, Louise Bruce and Gillian Crawshaw. Absent: Sandra Grummitt, Graeme Castles and Karen Crosby.

Also playing in the event on the Poverty Bay Golf Club's course were four players of international standing, who are Helen Mowat, Glenis Taylor, Wendy Bryant and Heather Booth.
