Around Town

A public meeting was held at the Red Cross centre to form a Red Cross Voluntary Aid Detachment in Gisborne. The object is to establish a highly efficient, fully trained corps to meet any emergency on a large national scale, or a smaller local one.

Speakers at the meeting were Miss R. D. Bunt, who will lead the detachment, Miss R. M. Simpson, director of V.A.D's for New Zealand, Mrs J. Lyle, president of the Poverty Bay Centre, and Miss Y. J. Sinclair, matron of the Cook Hospital.
