Original members of the Gisborne Overseas Wives' Club, photographed at the clubs 10th Anniversary celebration. Back row, Mesdames J. Mossman, M. Leech, V. Evans. Front row, Mesdames I. McLernon, C. Harris, and H. Nicoll. Club was originally formed for the wives of N.Z. servicemen, now accepts all overseas women as members. In earlier days it was responsible for sending many parcels home to Old Country.

Scheme has now been abandoned for one reason and another, members have gained valuable experience.

Mr "Bernie" Wolstenholme, president of the P.B. Rugby Union, who was selected to control the third test between Australia and New Zealand at Auckland on September 17.

A tui which became so tame that he was an institution for 15 years in a Gisborne street is seen here enjoying his daily meal from a cup. His host was Mr B. C. Jeffreys, 30 Domett Street. The tui grew so tame that he would find his cup even if placed on the verandah or window-sill, and if it was empty he would whistle loudly until it was filled. He died of old age about two years ago.

The coming-of-age of Mr W. E. Hepburn, Manutuke, son of Mr and Mrs R. K. Hepburn, was celebrated recently. Here the guest of honour is seen with his parents before cutting the traditional cake.
