Hilarity in Grey Street

One of the attractions at the fair in Grey Street was a sewing contest in which three members of the Poverty Bay reps and three members of the Hawkes Bay reps were chosen to sew up a "frock" for a girl from the carnival candidates. Plenty of laughter was provided by the contestants as they eventually managed to get their subjects "dressed".

Those taking part were (above), Pam Conole, Leagh Bishop, Margaret Aylwood, P.B. captain Garry Thompson, Dianne Cleaver, Buster Taylor, Murray Hollis, the winner Ron Abel (H.B.), Neil Thimbleby (H.B.), Heather Crafts, Gaye Stichbury and H.B. captain Tom Johnson.
