Geoff Hutchins

People And Thier Hobbies

Model-making is the hobby of Geoff Hutchins, of 17 Ngaio Street, who since a youngster has enjoyed playing around with little pieces of balsa wood, plastic, and glue.

Over the past three years, he has assembled an impressive array of plastic World War II aeroplanes, tanks, and transporters. Scaled down to 172nd of the actual size, the aircraft are accurate to the finest detail, and are hand painted to the exact colours and markings of the originals.

Altogether, his collection totals more than 40 models, including several motor vehicles.

More recently Geoff has been busily engaged as supervising model builder for the Turbott Plan model project and spends two nights a week at the Social Credit hall recreating buildings which are situated in the vicinity of the proposed development.
