Poverty Bay Defeat East Coast

East Coast gave spectators plenty of thrills in the first half of the game, held at Tolaga Bay on August 12, before being finally defeated by 16 points to nil.

The scoreless first half saw some rugged rugby with plenty of good forward play, but Poverty Bay asserted their superiority in the second spell and scored four tries with two conversions.
