Julie Andrews, of "The Sound of Music" fame, first took Broadway by storm when she appeared in "The Boy Friend".

With score and lyrics by Sandy Wilson, this musical play, which played for over 2,000 performances in London, is the Gisborne Operatic Society's next show, due for production in the War Memorial Hall on July 31.

Thoroughly tuneful and entertaining, the show, which is set in the 1920's, has Gareth Hannah and Winnifred Morice in the leading roles.

Gareth Hannah has appeared previously in "The Student Prince", "Charlie's Aunt" and "The Merry Widow", while vivacious Winnifred Morice will be making a sparkling impression in her first leading role on the Gisborne stage.

Back Cover. Our two back cover pictures feature autumn colouring in the beautiful Gisborne countryside. The right-hand picture was taken at Waihirere Domain, where splashes of golden colour enhance a view of the enclosure. The left-hand picture was shot from the roadside looking across the Wharekopae River a few hundred yards below the Rere Falls.....as charming a pastoral panorama as one could find anywhere in New Zealand.
