Farewell To Gisborne

Basil Johnstone, son of Mr and Mrs F. Johnstone, 25 Desmond Road, has transferred on promotion with State Fire Insurance to Porirua. Basil was assistant Scoutmaster of the Takitimu troop, and has been in the movement for 15 years.

Mrs Wiki Anderson (nee White), niece and foster daughter of Mr and Mrs H. K. Ngata, Grant Road, and children (from left), Norman, Lorna, and Ingrid, paid a farewell visit to Gisborne before leaving for a year in Hawaii where Mr Anderson is being transferred as an insurance company representative. Born and bred in Gisborne, Wiki attended the Wellington Teachers' Training College, and taught at Elgin School prior to her marriage. Recently she has been living in Auckland.

Pat and Margaret Knell, and daughters Catherine and Rosemary, of 151 Russell Street, are leaving for Paraparaumu where Pat will be manager of the Bank of New Zealand. In Gisborne, he has been assistant manager. Catherine was a pupil of St. Mary's School.

Ian Watt, son of Mr and Mrs D. watt, 351 Clifford Street, has left Gisborne to take a position as instructor at the Bank of N.S.W. new staff training centre in Auckland. A member of the Gisborne branch staff for five-and-a-half years, he was one of two applicants from this country selected to attend a two-week training course in Sydney, and is now temporarily stationed at the Wellington training centre preparing for his new job. A keen swimmer, Ian was a member of the Gisborne Club, and this year represented P.B. and the senior Waikanae Surf Life-Saving team. He was also secretary-treasurer of the Waikanae club.

Sholto and Diana Matthews, and daughter Susan, of 10 Carnarvon Street, are moving to Ruatoria, where Sholto will be branch manager of Dalgety and N.Z. Loan. A keen polo player, he has represented P.B. on numerous occasions.
