A second wedding celebration was given by Mr and Mrs Laurie Ashwell, 17 Churchill Crescent, to welcome home son Able Seaman Michael Ashwell and his English bride, Valerie.
At present on leave from the Waikato, Michael is pictured with Valerie cutting their New Zealand cake, while at left are his sisters Gillian and Marianne, and right are Laurie and Mrs Ashwell.

Four generations were together recently in the city when the Reverend J. G. B. Talbot of St. Peter's Church, Palmerston North, who, with his daughter Mrs J. Clyde (Wanganui), and grand-daughter Suzanne, visited his mother Mrs M. Talbot, Gisborne.
Mrs Talbot, snr, is, incidently, the daughter of the late Thomas U'Ren, who is believed to be the first white child born in Poverty Bay.

Retiring after serving as night watchman at Radio Station 2ZG for the part eighteen years is Frank Hennah.
At a small function held at the station a presentation was made to Frank by station manager Earle Rowell on behalf of the staff some of whom are, from left, Dianne Gane, Anita Sargent, Clare Liddy, Rosemary Lamberton, Sallie Moore, Julian Beer, Rae Kennedy and John Davies.
