One of the developers of fish fingers, Dr William F. Hampton, a fisheries expert from New Foundland, visited Gisborne recently in the course of a technical education advisory tour. He was shown round the port and fish factories by Mrs Esme Tombleson, M.P., and Mr Warwick Allen, managing director of East Coast Fisheries.

Richard Clarke gained further honours in the croquet field when he was runner up in the national championships held at Gore.

Declared one of the strongest players ever seen at a national championship, Richard twice attempted the difficult triple peal, the ultimate aim of all top croquet players. He finished off in the next twin, however, thus completing an "interrupted triple". Richard is the son of Mr and Mrs Rua Clark, 17 Asquith Street.
