Civil Defence in Gisborne is now an established fact and in the event of a disaster the organisation is ready to swing into action. The thing is, do You know what you should do in the case of an emergency? If you don't, why not attend the lectures which are held each month. Any of the executive committee (above), will be only to glad to help you obtain any information you would like. They are, from left (at back), Messrs W. J. H. Hughes (signal officer), H. The Maori Theatre Trust, which was formed recently, held a concert in Gisborne to inaugurate a nation-wide appeal for funds to get the venture under way. It is proposed to promote the wealth of Maori talent in the country through the formation of the Theatre Trust and produce artistry of a high standard in the theatre world. From left are, Peter Keiha (chairman of the Trust), the concert artists, American soprano Dolores Ivory, Auckland contralto Hannah Tatana, N.Z.B.C. pianist and accompanist Jocelyn Walker, and Don Selwyn (production manager).
