Game Fishing Success

The M. V. Corvair, owned and operated by Mr Ian Kerr, Ormond Road, became the first locally based game fishing launch to succeed in locating and catching genuine big-game fish at the Ariel Reef, 15 miles east of Gisborne.

In the past few weeks, charter parties have landed mako sharks, a marlin sword-fish, and yellow fin tuna.

Biggest fish at the time of writing was a 312lb, 10ft 9in striped marlin caught by Gisborne taxi driver Keith Tarry.

Plentiful sightings have assured a continuing good season, which should last until after Easter.
