Members of the Poverty Bay Roller Hockey team which competed in the recent N.Z. Roberts and Thomson were both selected to play in a North versus South match. Roberts also gained selection in the N.Z. team, and will travel to Brazil for the world championships later this year.

The Manutuke Volunteer Fire Brigade, which was formed in 1956, became the first and only all-Maori brigade in New Zealand about two years ago.
