Regional Surfriding Championships

The Hawkes Bay-Poverty Bay Regional surfriding championships, at which a team of ten was selected to represent the district at the New Zealand championships in Gisborne at Easter, were staged in good conditions at Waikanae Beach.

The contest proved to be an outright victory for the strong contingent of local surfers, the team selected being comprised entirely of members of the Gisborne Surf-riders' Club.

Lady surfers did not compete in the contest as they will enter the nationals as individuals.
