For the second successive year, the Poverty Bay School of Dancing won the British Ballet Organisation's Silver Taps trophy, awarded to the New Zealand school gaining the highest honours points in the annual examinations. The Matawai Tennis Club was recently re-formed after a period of recession, and went "on tour" to Gisborne where it played matches against the Kia Ora Club, at Bushmere. Members of the club are pictured during a break at the Bushmere grounds.
