"Miss Gisborne" Beauty Contest

Ten attractive young ladies clad in swim suits and high heel shoes paraded before a crowd of over 1500 and two judges, Mrs H. H. Barker and Mr E. De Suza, for the title of "Miss Gisborne", at the Waikanae Beach carnival.

The judges selected Mrs Jocelyn Screech, a 23 year-old Gisborne housewife, with two visitors, Misses Judy Shackleton, of Auckland, and Sheryl Cates, of Whangarei, second equal.
