Seven debutantes were presented to the first councillor of the New Zealand South Mission, Mr H. H. Hodgkinson, and his wife, of Wellington, at the L. D. S. Green and Gold Ball in the district centre hall, upper Stout Street. The ball was attended by about 300 dancers. Miss Caroline Topic, daughter of Mr and Mrs Tony Topic, Te Aroha, and formerly of Gisborne, who was presented at the Catholic Ball in Hamilton recently.

Mrs Maida Hillyard, of Gisborne, preparing her roses at the National Rose Society's recent show in Nelson. Mrs Hillyard won a national bronze medal, a very high award, with her display.
