Skating Champs

The Gisborne Amateur Roller Skating Club's 1965 championships were contested by 20 competitors when they were staged at Alfred Cox Park.

At the national championships a month later, local competitors acquitted themselves well by filling many minor placings.

Local skaters who gained placings in the N.Z. championships are, from left: Bruce Willson (1st junior speed. 1st junior pairs, 3rd junior boys freestyle), Susan Crosby (5th intermediate girls' freestyle), Barbara Scott 3rd intermediate girls' freestyle), Maria Henderson (7th junior girls' freestyle), Elizabeth Gooch (3rd junior girls' freestyle), Cheryl Clayton (4th intermediate girls' freestyle).
