The Gisborne yacht Valhalla, crewed by Peter Chatfield (skipper) and Ian Walker, sailing to victory on the Wairoa River at the annual East Coast Cherub class championships. Winners of all four races in the series this was their second successive East Coast championship victory.
Darryl White, son of Mr and Mrs K. R. White, 522 Aberdeen Road, displays the framed certificate he received for his winning entry in the N.H.K. Japan-N.Z.B.C. children's art competition. Darryl's painting was one of twelve selected from 10,000 entries to be displayed in both countries.
