Athletics Meeting

Gisborne, and visiting athletes and cyclists, competed in a half-day meeting at the Childers Road Reserve, organised by the local Amateur Athletics Club.

Highlight of the meeting was a fine tactical mile race by Alan Saunders in which he clipped .3sec off Alan Parkinson's H.B.-P.B. centre record of 4min 13.7sec. Parkinson took second place.

A P.B. record fell when Hasting's Glenys Morley ran a 220 in 25.8 sec.
