Some Appetite!

A pie-eating contest at the Edward Murphy Hospital's recent gala day saw six hungry young men line up before a mountain of pastry and mince and attempt to consume vast quantities of the stuff within a time limit of 15 minutes.

We followed the progress of one of the entrants, Alan Dunsmore, as he forced into his face a total of five pies.

Holding pieces of pie in both hands he tilts his head back in an endeavour to make a little more room.

The fifth pie accommodated, and the sixth clenched in his hand, Alan emits a groan and admits defeat.
