Maori Competitions

The 14th annual Gisborne Maori Competitions were very keenly contested when they were staged before good audiences in the Opera House on a recent Saturday afternoon and evening.

The high standard of the performing groups was a reflection of the interest and perfection attained by concert parties in this district.

The Waipawa Pastorate concert party from Hawkes Bay, led by the Rev Andrew Takaroa, formerly of Gisborne, were the guest artists at the competitions.
