Miss Ngarangi (Kauky) Pahuru, daughter of Mrs M. J. Pahuru, Hicks Bay, who has just returned to New Zealand after a three months' tour of North America, London, Hong Kong, and Hawaii, with the Rev Kingi Ihaka's Wellington Anglican Maori concert party. A former Rerekohu (Te Araroa) District High School pupil, Miss Pahuru is now employed by the Maori Affairs Department, Wellington.

Mr Jack Chambers, 7 Temple Street, who recently celebrated his 89th birthday. Mr Chambers was born in Victoria, Australia, and came to New Zealand in 1904. After settling in Gisborne, his work here included coach driving and for some years he was with the Borough Council outside staff.
