Local Body Election Candidates

The three-yearly local body elections, which will be held next Saturday, will be contested in all the local bodies except the Poverty Bay Catchment Board.

The sitting Mayor, Mr H. H. Barker, who has held this office for 15 years, will be opposed by the present Deputy-Mayor, Mr L. H. R. Crosby, a councillor of 15 years' standing.

Two members of the City Council, Messrs B. Wolstenholme and R. Meyriek, are not seeking re-election, and with the vacancy made by Mr Crosby, will leave room for at least three new councillors.
