Delegates from throughout the country converged on Gisborne recently for the annual conference of the New Zealand Federation of Tuberculosis Associations. A rare visitor to Gisborne, this member of the Blue Heron family was seen near the Awapuni swamp recently.

Warning bells and lights have finally been installed at the Grey Street, Stanley Road, Lytton Road, and Matawhero railway crossings. Workmen are pictured erecting the lights in Grey Street.

A big railway crane was imported to lift the heavy equipment associated with the lights.
