Successful Talent Quest

The high standard of the items given by the 28 entrants in Station 2ZG's radio talent quest, which ran for three nights in the War Memorial Hall, assured the event of certain success.

Watched by large audiences, the talent quest profited by more than £100, which was split equally for donations to the Midway Surf Life-saving Club's building fund and the Cook Hospital chapel fund.

On the last night, winners from the previous evenings were judged for their final placings by a panel comprising Mrs Pat Woodford and Mr Johnny Walker.

Winner of the £50 first prize was Mrs Christina King, who sang popular numbers with a rich and pleasant voice. Second place went to the instrumental and vocal combination of the Condors, and third place to the folk-singing trio, the Willows Three.
