East Coast Yachting Champs

Blustery conditions prevailed for most of the races in the annual East Coast yachting championships, which were held by the Gisborne Yacht Club in Poverty Bay during Anniversary weekend.

Good entries were received for all the classes, including many yachtsmen from outside the district.

New Zealand representative Clive Roberts, of Auckland, successfully contested the Finn Class championship, with Gisborne's Rod McCulloch as runner-up.
