The Royal New Zealand Air Force Vampire Jet aerobatics team, which visited Gisborne recently for the official opening of the airport's sealed runway, pictured sweeping over Kaiti Hill in tight formation, watched by spectators from the lookout.

Fads and fashions come and go, and the present trend among young men is to grow their hair long, presumably due to the influence of certain overseas pop groups, During the holidays, University student Geoff Bridgman sported the longest thatch yet seen in Gisborne. Said Geoff, "I always liked my hair long, and while in Auckland, decided to grow it a little longer, and a little longer, and a little longer..............."
