Several Japanese fishing experts spent a period with local fishermen this month demonstrating new equipment and methods of fishing. The James Aviation topdressing company announced the opening of a branch in Gisborne with this display at the air show. Founded by a former East Coaster, Mr "Ossie" James, the company claims to be the biggest operators of aircraft in the free world.

Mr and Mrs J. C. Butler, of Hillingdon, Middlesex, recently immigrated to New Zealand to live with their daughter, Mrs B. C. Nutter, of Ngatapa. A very keen sportsman, particularly in cricket, Mr Butler played for the Hill-Ingdon Cricket Club for 55 years, and scored a century when aged 67.
