Pictures From The Past

Does anybody remember the days when you could buy fish for 1/- a bundle down at the wharf? This picture, taken in 1939, shows eager customers doing just this on the arrival of one of the local fishing boats in the harbour basin.

Another 1939 picture shows work in progress during the construction of the Kopuawhara tunnel south of Gisborne when the railway line was being built. It was taken a half mile inside the tunnel.
