P.B. v. E.C. Polo

As a preliminary to the Hawkes Bay polo championships, the Poverty Bay and East Coast team played several matches at the Bushmere Road polo ground during Anniversary weekend.

The East Coast team, which comprised members of the Ihungia Club, was defeated by the home teams after some exciting chuckers.

In the H.B. championships a week later, the P.B. team played with Credit to defeat H.B. in the semifinals, but had to settle for the runner-up position when it was downed by Rangitiki, six goals to four, in the final.

This was the first time in 19 years that H.B., who are the present N. Z. champions, have been eliminated before the finals.
