When Mrs O. Houlahan, of 243 Palmerston Road, was holidaying in Auckland recently, she purchased four miniature turtles for her fish bowl. Costing 25 shillings each, the turtles are in pairs for breeding purposes, and were imported from Mexico. Fascinating little fellows, they were a bundle of activity when we took these photos, swimming and scrambling in all directions.

A recent sudden downpour in the city proved too much for the drains in Gladstone Road and resulted in a large lake forming across the road and footpath.
