Surf Life-Saving Awards

As patron of the Gisborne Surf Life-saving Association, Mr H. H. Barker presented the organisation's first two life membership awards at a function at Mr and Mrs Barry McLean's home, Riverside Road. The recipients were: Mr Bill De Costa (above), president of the Association, and Mr Ken Morse (below), secretary, A third award was made to Mr Leo Clarke, formerly of Gisborne and now of Waiheke Island, Auckland.

At the same function, Mr De Costa, who is also president of the Waikanae Surf Life-saving Club, made a presentation to the club's two New Zealand surf-team-to-Australia members, Rob Turnbull (above), who was captain of the team, and Glen Sutton (below).
