Here and There

The prompt action of two nearby residents, and later the Gisborne Fire Brigade, saved the film room from almost certain destruction.

A fire, which is thought to have started from an explosion in a small storage hut at the Boys' High School, completely burned out the building and damaged an adjacent film room during the school holidays.

Charred stores are removed from the hut.

The Waikanae Beach Motor Camp's holiday residents formed a committee to organise sports and games events for their children. One such event was a treasure hunt, in which hundreds of children dug and sifted an area of sand on the beach to find match boxes containing varying amounts of money.
