Gisborne Author

Former Gisborne Photo News and Herald journalist, Mr John Berry, who is now the television and show business writer on the Auckland Star, is the author of a book entitled "Seeing Stars", to be published in New Zealand in October.

The youngest son of Mr and Mrs T. H. Berry, 30 Stanley Road, he was educated here, played in the Gisborne City Band, and took part in local amateur dramatic productions.

He is pictured with the famed negro jazzman, Louis Armstrong, one of the many international show celebrities who are featured in the book.

Also included are many behind-the-scenes stories about New Zealand artists and show business personalities, including a complete chapter on Sir Robert Kerridge's career and his period in motor and newspaper businesses in Gisborne.
