An advertising gimmick with a difference was staged by J. Wattie Canneries recently when two mounted "cowgirls" and a much-decorated truck paraded through the city streets. They are pictured moving up Gladstone Road with the T and G building in the background.

The Gisborne Park Golf Club recently sported this humourous display following an incident on the course when a golfer was hit on the head by a stray goli ball. Peeping from behind the array of plastic helmets, topless hats, and noseguards, is club captain Les Jessop.

Wainui Beach residents were paid a surprise visit last month by this friendly eight-foot-long seal. Apparently in good health, it spent several hours on the beach surrounded by children and onlookers, before swimming out to sea.
