Talent Quest Finals

The final night of the 1964 Gigantic Talent Quest, which ran for 12 weeks in the War Memorial Hall, was held recently.

Organised by Messrs Bill Dennis and Percy Kara for the Latter , Day Saints' building fund, the quest was well contested in the popular section, but the semi-classical section had to be abandoned through lack of support.

A charming little 10-year-old tap dancer and singer, Melody Sherwood, was voted by the audience as the winner of the quest, for which she received a cash prize of £50.

Second and third placings went to the Cracksmen, a Hawkes Bay trio, and the Kiwi Club Girls, respectively.
