The 1st Gisborne Girls' Life Brigade Company (St. Andrew's Presbyterian), has a remarkable record in having six members of one family in its ranks...the daughters of Mr and Mrs J. Wilson, of 42 Awapuni Road. They are, from left: Shirley, Mary, Betty, Gloria, Suzanne, and Rosalie.

The two triumphant fishermen are Koro Roma and Tony Martin, who caught this eight-foot shark off the breakwater with heavy tackle and line after it had taken their gear for three nights in a row. The shark had seven gills, and is believed to be an uncommon species for New Zealand waters.
