Top Sportsmen In Gisborne

Five of New Zealand's leading sportsmen, world mile and half-mile record holder Peter Snell, All Black full - back Don Clarke, top athletics coach Arthur Lydiard, New Zealand cricketer Bert Sutcliffe, and triple New Zealand diving title holder Len Hodge, spent a week in Gisborne recently.

Sponsored by Rothman's Ltd., the sportsmen were guests of honour at a function in the Y.M.C.A. stadium, attended by over 2000, when they spoke on their various sports and world tours.

During the week, they visited the Health Camp, Hospital, and various schools and organisations, speaking and coaching.
