Mr H. K. Ngata, Endeavour Street, who was elected president of the N.Z. Maori Battalion Association at its re-union in Gisborne at Easter. Mr Ngata is the son of the late Sir Apirana Ngata, and was a captain in the battalion during the war.

Mr P. T. Kaua, Harris Street, was elected secretary of the battalion association.

Constable A. J. Puddick, 317 Clifford St., was awarded a clasp and bar for 21 years' service in the Police Force. Mr Puddiek's two sons are both members of the force....Ted in Auckland, and Tom in Lower Hutt.

Mrs Mary Braxton, 3 Ranfurly Road, being congratulated on her retirement from the staff of Watties Canneries by assistant manager, Mr Arthur Leeves. Mrs Braxton has been with the firm for eight years, the past four and a-half of which she has held the position of head forewoman.

Mr S. M. Williams, with his wife, of 202 Stout Street, who has retired from the position of wool and shipping manager of Williams and Kettle Ltd after almost 50 years' service. They are pictured with the writing desk presented to them by the firm.
