Chief fire officer E. C. Smith seated at the new automatic control desk which was recently installed in the Gisborne Fire Station. Built in Christchurch at a cost of £1400, the desk replaces equipment which has been in use in the station for 41 years.

Lamb on a fuss is perky Larry Day, pet lamb of Mr and Mrs F. Day, Chalmers Road, who had his leg set in plaster by the vet after he broke it recently. Pictured with Larry are three of his playmates, Lyn Smith, Kim Smith, and Jillian Askew.

Intellectually-Handicapped, crippied and under-privileged children were treated to boat rides on the Waimata River on a recent Saturday morning by members of the Gisborne Rotary Club. Half a dozen craft were employed and here Rotarians Ray Crosby, Ian Stewart and Harold Williams assist children on to Alan Thorpe's boat.
