An East Coast road with a difference.... to travel by car to Tupuroa, on the coast behind Ruatoria, the modern motorist just follows the existing road to its end, travels down a riverbed for approximately a mile, takes the second tributary on the right, and in time will arrive at the township...provided the river isn't in flood.
