Keep May Day A Safe Day

In an effort to reduce the number of fatalities on New Zealand roads, the Transport Department is urging all road users to keep Friday, 1st May, accident free, making it the safest day of the year.

"Photo News", in conjunction with the Gisborne Transport Department, pictures on these pages the shocking consequences careless and negligent driving can result in.

To help bring home to motorists and pedestrians the accident - promoting situations they can create with their thoughtless little bad habits, we picture also, two of the very common crimes committed on our city streets which can result in serious consequences.

We make a plea to Gisborne's road users, "Keep May-Day a Safe Day".
