Ngatiporou officers and NCO's of the Second Maori Contingent, 1st NZEF, pictured in Egypt in 1915. In front are Lieut A. Kohere (died of wounds in 1916 in the Somme area) and Captain P. Kaa (killed in action in 1917 near Ploegstreet woods in France). At rear are from left, the late Sgt N. Petiha, the late CSM R. Pakura, Lieut C. Goldsmith, Te Araroa, and CSM T. R.
