Rigden Shield Cricket

In an exciting two-day cricket match, played at the Oval in perfect weather during Anniversary Week-end, the visiting Bay of Plenty team relieved Poverty Bay of the Rigden Shield, which they have held for the past two years, with a first innings lead of 41 runs.

The match resulted in a draw, when Poverty Bay notched 159 runs in the second innings in addition to their first innings score of 211, as against Bay of Plenty's total of 252.
