The Carnival Day

An extremely interesting programme of horse and carnival events, which was held at the A and P Showgrounds in brilliant weather, successfully brought to a close the first Poverty Bay Stampede.

The large crowd which attended the occasion was treated to a wide variety of entertainment, the highlights of which were the baffling exhibitions of blind driving, escapeology, and firewalking by former Gisborne-ite "Indana", the game of polo, won by P.B. over Kihikihi by 14 goals to six, and the International teams' jump, won by the Gisborne A team.

The "H.M.S. Navy Lark", run by Ex-Navalmen's Association types disguised in rubber masks, had a busy day.
