At the end of the 1962 school year, the Intermediate School held a parents' night. Following the finals of a speech contest, and a mannequin parade, in the Assembly Hall, the guests inspected a display of arts, crafts, and handwork done during the year.

Thirty-two school teachers, who had spent their P.A. year teaching in schools in the Gisborne district, graduated at a ceremony in the Intermediate School Assembly Hall at the end of 1962.
